Civil Project Engineer – Engineering Supervisor

About the role

Metropistas is seeking a qualified Civil Project Engineer to act as Engineering Supervisor for its seven toll corridors across Puerto Rico. This full‑time, on‑site position in Guaynabo will oversee technical, administrative, and economic aspects of infrastructure projects, ensuring safe and efficient highway operations.

Key responsibilities

• Review engineering plans and technical documents prepared by consultants.
• Coordinate permit submissions to the ACT and liaise with PRHTA and federal agencies.
• Evaluate technical and economic proposals for road and bridge works.
• Support internal design development and prepare technical reports for management and regulators.
• Participate in capital budget planning and verify partial payments to consultants and contractors.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
• Active Engineer in Training (EIT) license and membership in the Colegio de Ingenieros y Agrimensores de Puerto Rico.
• Minimum five years of experience in transportation infrastructure projects, preferably highways and bridges.
• Experience reviewing designs against AASHTO, ACT, and MUTCD standards.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in both Spanish and English.
• OSHA 30‑Hour Construction Industry certification.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD platforms such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Familiarity with GIS tools, especially ArcGIS, for planning and asset management.
• Knowledge of AASHTO, ACT, and MUTCD design standards.
