Business Intelligence / Data Analytics Engineer Trainee

About the role

We are looking for a Business Intelligence / Data Analytics Engineer Trainee to help design, build, and maintain scalable analytics solutions. You will work closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, and analysts to turn raw data into actionable insights that support strategic and operational decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, clean, transform, and validate data from multiple sources.
• Perform exploratory data analysis to uncover trends, anomalies, and business insights.
• Develop and evaluate machine‑learning models for supervised and unsupervised tasks.
• Design and maintain semantic data models (star/snowflake schemas) for reporting.
• Build and optimise ETL/ELT pipelines, ensuring data quality and consistency.
• Create and maintain dashboards and reports using Power BI, Python, and R.
• Translate business requirements into robust BI solutions and Power BI semantic models.
• Optimise SQL queries, data models and report performance for large‑scale datasets.
• Collaborate with business users to define KPIs, metrics and reporting needs.
• Define and enforce data standards, naming conventions and documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering or a related field.
• Eligible for an IEFP Level VI Internship.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to translate business needs into data models and KPIs.
• Excellent communication skills for both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Required skills

• Programming: Python, C#, R.
• Data‑wrangling libraries: Pandas/Modin, Polars, NumPy.
• SQL and strong SQL skills; experience with data warehouses such as Snowflake, Azure Synapse, BigQuery, Redshift, SQL Server.
• BI tools: Power BI (semantic models, DAX, DirectQuery).
• ETL/ELT tools: SSIS, Azure Data Factory, Airflow, dbt.
• Machine‑learning model development and evaluation.
• Data modelling techniques (Kimball, dimensional modelling).
• API‑based data ingestion.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric and Azure Foundry (nice to have).
