Bilingual Pharmacy Technician (Prior Authorization)

About the role

Optum is seeking a bilingual Pharmacy Technician to join its Puerto Rico Operations team in San Juan. You will work in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment handling member and provider calls, processing prior authorizations, and providing accurate medication and clinical information.

Key responsibilities

• Answer inbound calls from members, physicians, and pharmacists and make outbound follow‑up calls as needed.
• Process prior authorizations using multiple computer systems while ensuring data accuracy.
• Navigate several applications simultaneously to retrieve medication details and clinical guidelines.
• Apply benefit plan criteria to approve, deny, or recommend actions.
• Provide general benefit information and partner with colleagues to gather additional data.

Required profile

• Valid, unrestricted Puerto Rico Pharmacy Technician license or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board credential.
• Professional proficiency in both English and Spanish (English assessment required).
• Availability for an 8‑week on‑site training program and ability to work 40 hours per week.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Windows PC applications and ability to learn complex computer systems.
• Strong computer navigation skills across multiple platforms.
