Outpatient Registered Nurse - RN

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Outpatient Registered Nurse (RN) to join our hemodialysis team, delivering high‑quality care to patients with End‑Stage Renal Disease in an outpatient setting.

Key responsibilities

• Direct Patient Care Technicians and other staff in safe delivery of chronic hemodialysis therapy.
• Assess daily patient needs, assign appropriate care tasks, and monitor technique compliance.
• Provide patient and family education on renal disease, vascular access, diet, fluid and medication adherence.
• Implement and adjust treatment prescriptions, including sodium and ultrafiltration modeling, based on physician orders.
• Conduct initial, annual, and ongoing nursing assessments and document patient care according to FMCNA policies.
• Manage dialysis access care, troubleshoot flow issues, and respond to alarms or yellow‑light alerts.
• Administer prescribed medications, including PRN and transfusions, and document adverse reactions.
• Accurately transcribe physician orders, lab requisitions, and enter results into the Medical Information System.
• Ensure proper specimen handling, packaging, and timely delivery in compliance with DOT and regulatory standards.
• Maintain a clean, safe treatment environment, oversee emergency equipment, and respond to cardiac or respiratory arrests.

Required skills

• Proficiency in operating dialysis machines and related equipment.
• Competence with the Medical Information System for order entry and documentation.
• Ability to perform CPR and other emergency response procedures.
• Knowledge of medication administration protocols and controlled substance handling.
