Battery Engineer Expert

About the role

Powerdot is building a pan‑European network of EV chargers and needs a Battery Engineer Expert to turn battery storage into a strategic performance lever. Based in Lisbon, you will act as the technical reference for all battery‑related matters, guiding design, deployment and operation across multiple markets.

Key responsibilities

• Define technical specifications for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) at charging stations, including sizing, topology, safety, monitoring and grid integration.
• Evaluate supplier proposals and design choices to optimise performance, reliability and total cost of ownership.
• Create and maintain a reference BESS design that can be replicated by country teams.
• Lead the technical side of battery roll‑outs: site assessment, installation, commissioning and hand‑over to operations.
• Adapt rollout playbooks to local constraints such as grid codes, regulations and installer capabilities across five countries.
• Serve as the technical interface with distribution system operators (DSOs), EPC partners and local installers.
• Monitor live battery assets, define key performance indicators (availability, round‑trip efficiency, degradation, safety) and drive continuous improvement.
• Develop and own the O&M playbook for preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and spare‑parts strategy.
• Identify and unlock revenue opportunities from energy markets, including arbitrage, ancillary services and capacity markets.

Required profile

• Strong background in battery system design, power electronics or related engineering discipline.
• Proven experience managing end‑to‑end deployment of BESS projects.
• Ability to work across multiple countries and coordinate with diverse stakeholders.
• Analytical mindset with a focus on performance optimisation and cost efficiency.
