Backend Developer – Cloud & IoT Services

About the role

Volkswagen Group Services is looking for a Backend Developer to join its Innovation & Engineering Hub in Lisbon. You will work on the Rolling Fleet MAN Connectivity team, delivering secure, cloud‑native services that enable communication between MAN trucks and the cloud.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy and operate backend solutions and internal tools using modern cloud infrastructure.
• Maintain cloud‑native microservices built with containers, serverless functions, RESTful APIs and event streaming.
• Implement secure connectivity, message routing, decoding, vehicle APIs and certificate management.
• Create prototypes, MVPs and full products, taking end‑to‑end ownership.
• Collaborate with other teams to continuously improve services, tooling and processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 3 years of professional experience in backend development.
• Strong background in Java development, RESTful APIs and event‑driven architectures.
