Backend Developer – Cloud & IoT Services

About the role
Volkswagen Group Services is looking for a Backend Developer to join its Innovation & Engineering Hub in Lisbon. You will work on the Rolling Fleet MAN Connectivity team, delivering secure, cloud‑native services that enable communication between MAN trucks and the cloud.
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy and operate backend solutions and internal tools using modern cloud infrastructure.
- Maintain cloud‑native microservices built with containers, serverless functions, RESTful APIs and event streaming.
- Implement secure connectivity, message routing, decoding, vehicle APIs and certificate management.
- Create prototypes, MVPs and full products, taking end‑to‑end ownership.
- Collaborate with other teams to continuously improve services, tooling and processes.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.
- At least 3 years of professional experience in backend development.
- Strong background in Java development, RESTful APIs and event‑driven architectures.
