Backend Developer & Build Engineer (Python)

About the role

As a Backend Developer and Build Engineer you will shape the technical backbone of Bosch’s modern documentation platform. Working with the Docs‑as‑Code approach, you will enable authors and development teams to produce high‑quality technical documentation efficiently and reliably.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain build pipelines for the documentation platform based on the Sphinx static site generator.
• Own and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines on GitHub and Bitbucket, including custom extensions for the frontend.
• Support cloud‑based deployments, enhance automation and increase system reliability.
• Develop scripts and tools for format conversion, data validation and report generation to streamline recurring processes.
• Provide technical support for the Docs‑as‑Code infrastructure and assist internal users with troubleshooting and optimisation.
• Collaborate closely with software development teams to refine documentation workflows according to product and customer needs.
• Optionally contribute to technical documentation within the welding technology business unit.

Required profile

• Completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.

Required skills

• Strong programming experience with Python.
• Familiarity with Sphinx for generating static documentation sites.
• Hands‑on experience with CI/CD tools and version control platforms such as GitHub and Bitbucket.
• Knowledge of building and maintaining automated build pipelines and cloud deployment processes.
