Automation Engineer – Operations Development

About the role

The Automation Engineer drives efficiency and innovation within Coloplast's Operations Development Department, leading initiatives to simplify and automate processes and ensure operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and introduce new technologies, map existing ones and document related knowledge.
• Suggest and implement improvements to increase machinery availability and automation levels.
• Participate in projects to reduce production scrap, increase equipment productivity and support equipment modernization.
• Plan, coordinate and execute PLC‑controlled machine projects, including software design, coding, testing and deployment.
• Provide technical support to the Operations team for troubleshooting, vision and robot systems, and ensure continuous machine availability.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrotechnics or Automation with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
• Good written and spoken English (minimum B1 level).
• Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic drawings.
• Flexibility to work shifts, overtime and be on‑call for production support.
• Proactive attitude, strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Required skills

• PLC programming (Rockwell, Omron, Siemens, Schneider) – Allan Bradley and Schneider preferred.
• Servo motion programming (Kinetix, Accurax, Elau, SEW, Trio, AMK, Indramat, Sigma Drives).
• Robot programming (Denso, ABB, KUKA).
• Vision system programming (Cognex, Omron) and HMI configuration.
• Electrical schematic creation/update using E‑Plan.
• Installation and uninstallation of electrical components.
• Maintenance of automated industrial machines.
• Project management experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
