Accountant – English Speaking (F/M)

About the role

The Accountant will manage financial transactions, prepare reports and ensure compliance with accounting standards for French entities while supporting operations in Portugal. This position requires strong analytical abilities and the capacity to work across borders in a fast‑paced, international environment.

Key responsibilities

• Record and maintain accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger entries.
• Prepare, reconcile and analyse profit & loss, balance sheet and cash‑flow statements.
• Execute month‑end and year‑end closing processes in line with IFRS and GAAP.
• Drive internal and external audits and ensure statutory reporting compliance.
• Process invoices, payments and employee expense reports; monitor collections and reconcile vendor/customer accounts.
• Prepare tax filings (VAT, corporate and payroll) and ensure adherence to local tax regulations.
• Assist in budgeting, financial forecasting and variance analysis.
• Support implementation and improvement of accounting systems, automating reporting and reconciliation where possible.

Required skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field (CPA, ACCA preferred).
• Minimum 5 + years of end‑to‑end accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, statutory reporting and tax compliance.
• Experience with month‑end close, project‑based accounting and milestone revenue recognition.
• Familiarity with process‑mapping and analysis tools.
• Proficiency in ERP systems such as SAP or Business Central.
• Advanced Excel skills for financial analysis and reporting.
