Actuarial Trainee

About the role

PwC Services Portugal is expanding its Actuarial Services department and is looking for enthusiastic trainees to join an international actuarial team. You will work on actuarial and risk modelling projects, supporting calculations, model development and regulatory analysis for insurance clients.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and run actuarial models, perform calculations and support technical provision reviews.
• Analyse regulatory and accounting requirements under IFRS and Lux GAAP for the insurance sector.
• Assist M&A, due‑diligence, credit‑risk and risk‑capital modelling projects, as well as actuarial outsourcing engagements.
• Participate in feasibility studies, restructuring of capital ownership and portfolio transfers for insurance, reinsurance and pension entities.
• Support the creation of new tools, solutions and products, including exploring AI applications in day‑to‑day actuarial activities.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics or quantitative finance.
• Proactive, curious and collaborative mindset with strong analytical abilities.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of French or German is a plus.
• Interest in the broader insurance industry and a willingness to learn.

Required skills

• Familiarity with R for modelling and analytics.
• Experience with Python for data analysis and modelling.
