Software Engineer II

About the role

Honeywell Aerospace is seeking a Software Engineer II to develop and maintain embedded software applications that support commercial, defense, and space aircraft. The position is based in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, with an initial 90‑day onsite period followed by a hybrid schedule (three days onsite, two days remote).

Key responsibilities

• Perform requirement analysis and define test strategies.
• Design, develop, execute, and debug test cases for embedded software.
• Conduct formal testing, reviews, and certification support (DO‑178B/C).
• Provide verification deliverables and support the Test Experts with new tools and methodologies.
• Travel up to 25% domestically or internationally as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (e.g., computer, aerospace, electrical engineering or computer science).
• Minimum 2 years of experience in software/requirement testing.
• Minimum 2 years of embedded real‑time software development.
• Minimum 2 years of development experience in C/C++ and Python.
• Fluent in English (read, write, speak).

Required skills

• C and C++ programming.
• Python scripting.
• DO‑178B/C certification knowledge.
• Experience with avionics protocols: ARINC‑429, RS‑232, RS‑422, MIL‑STD‑1553.
• Multicore processor development and architecture understanding.
• Hardware debugging using oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
• Embedded real‑time software development and verification.
