Lead People Partner - Technology

About the role

We are looking for a Lead People Partner to own the people agenda for our Technology organisation as M‑KOPA scales its infrastructure across Africa. This senior HR role will partner directly with the CTO and engineering leadership to shape how we attract, retain and develop the talent that powers financial inclusion for everyday earners.

Key responsibilities

• Act as trusted advisor to engineering, data and platform leaders, aligning people strategy with roadmap execution.
• Lead organisational design, workforce planning, levelling and team transformation for a globally distributed senior engineering population.
• Own end‑to‑end people partnering for Engineering and Product, with a Senior People Partner reporting to you.
• Coach, develop and set direction for your direct report, establishing partnering standards across the technology portfolio.
• Leverage people analytics and collaborate with Centres of Excellence to drive decisions on capability, attrition and cost.
• Optimise performance, engagement and team dynamics in an asynchronous, multi‑country environment.
• Manage complex senior employee‑relations cases within your portfolio.

Required profile

• Several years of senior HR business partnering experience, preferably within technology or engineering functions.
• Deep understanding of organisational design, workforce planning and levelling frameworks.
• Proven ability to coach and develop other HR partners.
• Data‑driven mindset with experience using people analytics to influence decisions.
• Experience working with globally distributed, senior‑level teams.
• Strong capability to handle sensitive employee‑relations matters.
