Electro-Mechanical Engineer – Mining Equipment

About the role

The Electro-Mechanical Engineer will join the technical team supporting heavy mining equipment in Portugal. You will be responsible for diagnosing, maintaining and repairing complex electro-mechanical systems that combine mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and electronic components. The role requires hands-on work in demanding underground mining environments.

Key responsibilities

• Perform mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and electronic maintenance on heavy mining equipment.
• Diagnose complex faults and determine appropriate repair solutions.
• Carry out preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance activities.
• Inspect equipment, identify potential failures and support technical investigations.
• Troubleshoot motors, sensors, controls, hydraulic and mechanical systems.
• Read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical diagrams.
• Replace components, test, commission equipment and complete accurate maintenance reports.
• Collaborate with engineers, technicians and operational teams to minimise downtime while ensuring safety and HSE compliance.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an Electro-Mechanical Engineer, Mining Engineer or Heavy Equipment Engineer.
• Essential mining experience, preferably in underground operations.
• EU or UK residency.
• Strong hands-on experience with heavy mining equipment, ideally Sandvik or Komatsu.
• Excellent mechanical and electrical troubleshooting capability.
• High safety awareness and commitment to technical standards.
