Assistant Store Manager

About the role

The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in driving sales, delivering excellent customer service, and maintaining store appearance and operations. This role steps in to lead the store whenever the Store Manager is absent or working opposite shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Lead store team members to provide outstanding service to retail and professional customers.
• Supervise customer‑service programs such as Related Sales, Hi5, Rock the Call, Never Say No, and Rock the Lot.
• Ensure the sales counter is properly staffed during peak hours.
• Assist with goal setting, performance feedback, coaching, and training for team members.
• Participate in recruiting: schedule interviews, evaluate candidates, and help select qualified staff.
• Manage telephone etiquette according to company policy.
• Process online orders, transfers, and DC add orders promptly and communicate shipment status to customers.
• Handle special orders and outside purchases using the electronic purchase‑order ledger.
• Process returns, exchanges, refunds, and warranty claims efficiently.
• Oversee invoicing of merchandise, core charges, and warranties before shipment.
• Communicate Zipline messages and delegate merchandising tasks.
• Enforce compliance with work schedules, clock‑in/out procedures, and company policies.
• Perform opening/closing duties, including cash handling, deposit preparation, security checks, and vehicle security.
• Assist in maintaining the building, parking lot, signage, lighting, hardware, and service equipment.

• Comfortable handling cash, deposits, and security procedures.

Required skills

• Proficiency with store management software and electronic purchase‑order ledger.
• Familiarity with retail customer‑service programs (e.g., Hi5, Rock the Call).
• Basic knowledge of telephone systems and POS equipment.
