Assistant Service Manager

About the role

The Assistant Service Manager supports the service and tire team in a busy automotive store, working under the Store Service Manager. This role helps drive sales of labor, parts, tires and fleet services while ensuring smooth shop operations and high productivity.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with customer care, work order processing, register duties and facility maintenance.
• Maintain service equipment, uphold housekeeping standards and follow POS, inventory and cash handling policies.
• Address customer service issues, complaints and business opportunities in partnership with management.
• Drive service center sales goals through direct customer engagement and coaching of advisors.
• Train and coach service associates on the Pep Boys Customer Care Process, Courtesy Vehicle Inspections (CVIs) and store systems.
• Monitor shop productivity, workflow and safety, ensuring efficient back‑shop operations.
• Act as primary supervisor in the absence of management, overseeing daily activities and opening/closing procedures.
• Maintain an organized, neat shop and comply with all company, safety and environmental policies.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of experience in an automotive service environment; sales experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Basic mathematical proficiency for calculating commissions, discounts and other financial figures.

Required skills

• Understanding of basic arithmetic operations and percentage calculations.
• Ability to apply mathematical formulas to sales and service transactions.
