Software Engineer

About the role

We are a fast‑growing startup building a cloud‑native platform that unifies retail processes, systems and data. As a Software Engineer you will help design, develop and evolve this platform, using modern cloud‑native tools and contributing to a seamless retail experience.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior engineers and architects to translate functional designs into technical solutions.
• Write, configure, unit‑test, maintain and document code following established standards.
• Design reusable components, frameworks and libraries for the platform.
• Participate in proof‑of‑concept work and prototyping when needed.
• Enforce coding standards and mentor junior engineers.
• Work within an Agile/Scrum framework to deliver high‑quality releases each sprint.
• Conduct code reviews, sprint retrospectives and continuous improvement activities.
• Coordinate with QA to ensure software meets acceptance criteria.
• Evaluate new technologies and processes for future feature delivery.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of professional software development experience, primarily backend.
• Strong expertise in Python.
• Experience with relational (PostgreSQL) and non‑relational (MongoDB) databases.
• Understanding of RESTful APIs, event‑driven architectures and microservices.
• Familiarity with containerisation (Docker) and cloud platforms (Azure preferred, AWS or GCP acceptable).
• Experience working in Agile teams and using tools such as Azure DevOps or Jira.
