Software Engineer II (Dev Platform)

About the role

Iterable is looking for a Software Engineer II to join the Developer Platform team. In this hands‑on role you will improve the Scala, Bazel and CI foundations that power the daily workflow of Iterable engineers. You will own moderate‑complexity projects that make the codebase easier to change, the build graph easier to reason about, and CI more reliable at production scale.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain shared Scala libraries and Bazel build rules used across services.
• Improve the core developer workflow for compiling, testing, packaging and validating changes.
• Accelerate CI feedback loops while preserving quality and release confidence.
• Turn recurring developer pain points into reusable tools, documentation and automation.
• Apply AI‑assisted tools such as Cursor and Claude to automate repetitive platform work.
• Collaborate with product engineering teams to understand needs and drive adoption of platform improvements.

Required profile

• Strong software engineering fundamentals and practical systems thinking.
• Comfortable working in large shared codebases and learning new stacks quickly.
• Ability to independently own projects of moderate complexity.
• Interest in using modern AI tooling to enhance engineering productivity.

Required skills

• Scala (or ability to read and modify Scala code).
• Java or Kotlin.
• Bazel build system.
• Continuous Integration (CI) pipelines.
• Build systems, dependency management and test infrastructure.
• AI‑assisted development tools such as Cursor and Claude.
