Senior Software Engineer - Java/Spring

About the role

As a Senior Software Engineer you will join Mastercard’s MDES team to design, build and operate high‑performance, secure payment services used by millions worldwide. You will work on modernising legacy on‑premises applications and migrating them to public‑cloud environments, ensuring they remain reliable, scalable and compliant.

Key responsibilities

• Develop micro‑services‑based solutions that power mobile and tokenised remote commerce payments.
• Take full ownership of the software you create, including its maintenance, performance, and resilience.
• Champion adoption of technology standards, opinionated frameworks and best practices across the team.
• Collaborate closely with product managers and fellow engineers to deliver features that improve the customer experience.
• Support the migration of existing services to public‑cloud platforms while maintaining security and regulatory compliance.

Required profile

• Proven experience building server‑side, backend applications at scale.
• Strong expertise in Java and the Spring Framework.
• Passion for creating globally‑impactful payment services used by hundreds of millions of users.
• Experience with event‑driven architectures and cloud‑ready deployments.
