Senior Frontend Engineer (React.js and Next.js)

About the role

Komodo Consulting is looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer to join a technology‑focused project for a client in the digital transformation space. You will work in a hybrid setting from Lisbon, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑performance, SEO‑friendly web applications.

Key responsibilities

• Take end‑to‑end ownership of frontend applications, ensuring performance, security and scalability.
• Partner with product, design and backend teams within an Agile (Scrum/Kanban) framework.
• Design and develop isomorphic web applications using React.js, Next.js and modern JavaScript with server‑side rendering.
• Maintain and improve Core Web Vitals, accessibility and overall SEO quality.
• Promote a collaborative team culture with clear communication.

Required profile

• Strong hands‑on experience with React.js and Next.js.
• Proficiency in state‑management (Redux or similar) and familiarity with GraphQL and REST APIs.
• Solid knowledge of HTML5, CSS3 and preprocessors such as SASS, LESS or PostCSS.
• Experience with testing frameworks like Jest, React Testing Library or Enzyme.
• Understanding of performance monitoring tools (New Relic, Grafana, Core Web Vitals).
• Experience with Azure is a strong plus.
• Fluent English (B2 level or higher) and ability to work in an English‑speaking environment.
• Based in Lisbon and available for a hybrid schedule (2 days onsite).
