Marine Interdiction Agent – Federal Law Enforcement

About the role

The Marine Interdiction Agent (MIA) joins the Air and Marine Operations (AMO) team of U.S. Customs and Border Protection to protect America’s maritime borders. Agents enforce federal laws, interdict illegal activity at sea, and support safe international travel and trade.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct vessel boardings, inspections, and investigations in maritime environments.
• Enforce customs, immigration, and other federal statutes on U.S. waters.
• Collaborate with other law‑enforcement agencies and support joint operations.
• Maintain operational readiness through continuous training and certification.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship and eligibility for federal employment.
• Valid Merchant Mariner Credential.
• Successful completion of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Academy (FLETC).
• Ability to meet physical fitness standards and pass background investigations.
