Datacenter Technician – Smart Hands (Europe Travel)

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Datacenter Technician to deliver Smart Hands services and support data centre infrastructure projects across Portugal and Europe. The role involves hands‑on work in live, mission‑critical environments, including PDU installation, rack‑and‑stack deployments, structured cabling and change management.

Key responsibilities

• Install, commission and test Power Distribution Units (PDUs) in operational data centres.
• Provide Smart Hands support: hardware replacements, server reboots, troubleshooting and remote‑hands assistance.
• Perform rack and stack installations of servers, switches, routers, storage devices and associated infrastructure.
• Terminate, label, test and manage copper and fibre‑optic cabling systems.
• Execute network patching, cable tracing, connectivity verification and cable management to industry standards.
• Carry out equipment deployments, migrations, de‑commissioning and infrastructure upgrades.
• Follow formal Change Management, MOP, SOP and EOP procedures and maintain accurate documentation.
• Conduct routine inspections, preventative maintenance and asset record updates.
• Liaise with customers, project managers, engineers, vendors and operations teams.
• Travel to customer and data‑centre sites across Europe as required.

Required profile

• Previous experience in data centre, telecommunications or network infrastructure environments.
• Hands‑on experience with rack‑and‑stack activities and hardware deployment.
• Knowledge of copper and fibre‑optic structured cabling systems.
• Familiarity with Smart Hands services and critical power infrastructure.
• Understanding of Change Management processes and ability to work under controlled procedures.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Willingness to travel extensively across Europe.
