Backend Developer – Java (6+ years)

About the role

Closer Consulting is looking for an experienced Backend Developer to join its hybrid team in Lisbon or Porto. You will work on cloud‑based web applications, building robust APIs and micro‑services that support a wide range of industries.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, deploy, configure, test and maintain server‑side applications following internal standards.
• Design and implement exchange layers that connect multiple target systems.
• Create RESTful Web Services and APIs for cloud‑based platforms.
• Integrate server‑side logic with front‑end components and ensure high performance.
• Collaborate with business analysts, product owners, and front‑end developers in an agile environment.
• Participate in Scrum ceremonies, sprint planning and continuous delivery pipelines.
• Debug, troubleshoot and optimise performance of complex applications.

Required profile

• 6+ years of professional experience in backend development.
• Strong command of Java (11/17) and J2EE technologies.
• Proven ability to produce clean, high‑quality code and clear technical documentation.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
• Analytical mindset with a client‑oriented approach and ability to meet tight deadlines.
