VAT Tax Advisor

About the role

Our client, a leading global logistics organisation, is seeking a Portugal‑based VAT Tax Advisor to join its international VAT team. You will work on complex VAT matters, support key business projects and help shape the company’s indirect tax strategy across Europe.

Key responsibilities

• Provide practical VAT guidance on compliance and transaction structuring for European operations.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and external advisors to ensure correct VAT application on business activities.
• Handle day‑to‑day VAT queries, delivering concise, commercially focused advice.
• Support VAT reporting, e‑invoicing initiatives and ensure accuracy across multiple jurisdictions.
• Assist with VAT audits and inquiries, preparing documentation and responses for tax authorities.
• Contribute to the improvement of the indirect tax control framework and governance.
• Drive VAT awareness through training and updates on regulatory changes.
• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, tax authorities and external advisors.

Required profile

• 10+ years of professional experience, with at least 6 years in VAT advisory, preferably in a Big 4 or multinational environment.
• Deep understanding of European VAT rules and experience advising in a corporate/project setting.
• Ability to work independently, proactive and hands‑on.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex VAT topics to senior stakeholders.
• Resilient, driven and comfortable in a fast‑moving organisation.
