Threat Researcher

About the role

SecurityScorecard is looking for a Threat Researcher to join its growing threat research team. Reporting to the Head of Threat Research, you will conduct deep technical analysis of malicious activity, develop detections, and publish original findings that help protect millions of organizations worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Perform static and dynamic reverse‑engineering of malicious binaries to uncover behavior and intent.
• Design, test, and maintain high‑fidelity detection signatures using YARA, Snort and Sigma.
• Query large data sets with SQL, Python or Splunk to identify anomalies and map adversary infrastructure.
• Create AI and large‑language‑model automations that streamline analysis workflows.
• Produce detailed technical reports, whitepapers and presentations for internal teams, customers and industry conferences.

Required profile

• Strong analytical mindset with a passion for solving hard, ambiguous security problems.
• Comfortable presenting research findings to technical and non‑technical audiences, including customers.
• Self‑motivated and able to work autonomously while collaborating across engineering, data science, marketing and customer success.

Required skills

• Reverse engineering (static and dynamic analysis) of malware.
• Detection engineering with YARA, Snort and Sigma.
• Data mining using SQL, Python and Splunk.
• Experience building AI/LLM‑based automation tools.
