Team Lead – Content Moderation (Remote, Portugal)

About the role

We are seeking a proactive and detail‑oriented Team Lead for our Content Moderation team based in Portugal. In this remote‑first position you will guide a distributed group of moderators, ensure consistent enforcement of platform policies, and help maintain a safe online environment.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily moderation operations, meeting productivity, quality and compliance targets.
• Provide hands‑on guidance for complex or high‑risk cases, ensuring accurate policy application.
• Monitor performance metrics and trends to identify operational improvements.
• Coordinate scheduling and workflow distribution for balanced workloads.
• Support onboarding, training and continuous learning initiatives.
• Conduct moderation audits to maintain consistency and identify policy gaps.
• Act as escalation point for challenging cases and internal concerns.
• Collaborate with leadership and cross‑functional teams to enhance trust‑and‑safety strategies.

Required profile

• 2‑4 years of leadership experience in content moderation, trust & safety, compliance or related fields.
• Strong understanding of sensitive content areas such as hate speech, extremist material, self‑harm, fraud, exploitation and misinformation.
• Proven ability to interpret and enforce platform policies with sound judgment.
• Experience analysing moderation data and performance metrics.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Comfortable working fully remote with strong organisational abilities.
• High integrity, resilience and emotional maturity when handling high‑risk content.
