Systems Administrator (Remote)

About the role

Cross Border Talents is looking for a Systems Administrator to join its Infrastructure Team. You will work with a wide range of technologies and help maintain customers' platforms for some of the largest European publishers, in a high-traffic environment handling hundreds of millions of page impressions per month.

Key responsibilities

• Build, install, configure, upgrade and maintain physical and virtual infrastructure.
• Keep systems running quickly and with high availability, and remove performance bottlenecks.
• Work with the development team to design fast, scalable systems.
• Apply and update system upgrades, firmware and infrastructure changes.
• Monitor and manage system health and configuration, taking corrective action according to standard operating procedures.
• Provide 24x7 on-call support on a rotating basis, including outside normal business hours.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience administering Linux/UNIX systems.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Amazon AWS, DigitalOcean and Linode.
• Understanding of container technologies (Docker, podman, LXC) and Kubernetes.
• Good understanding of TCP/IP, HTTP, SMTP and DNS for debugging.
• Excellent communication and time-management skills, working with several developer groups.
• Ability to adapt to new technologies and creative problem solving.

Required skills

• Scripting and automation: Bash/sh, PHP, Python, Perl.
• PHP setup and configuration.
• Networking tools: HAProxy, ingress, routing, iptables/nftables.
• Nginx, PHP, MySQL, Redis and Varnish are used extensively; experience with them is an advantage.
• DevOps experience is desirable.
