Substation Protection & Control Designer – Remote

About the role

ICF is looking for a Substation Protection & Control Designer to work remotely on high‑voltage substation projects (12 kV‑500 kV). You will create relay, protection, and control drawings under the guidance of the Electrical Project Lead, supporting utilities with innovative engineering solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and prepare protection and control drawings, including relay one‑lines, three‑lines, AC/DC schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, SCADA and communication diagrams, and point‑to‑point wiring diagrams.
• Coordinate with physical, settings, and drafting disciplines to ensure high‑quality deliverables.
• Interpret and incorporate vendor information into design packages.
• Apply client standards and industry codes to all work.
• Ensure QA/QC processes are followed for every design package.
• Continuously improve technical knowledge and performance.

Required profile

• AA or High School Diploma.
• Experience with substation (transmission) design.
• 3+ years of detailed wiring design experience, producing single lines, schematics, and relay panels.
• 3+ years of experience using Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Inventor, and MicroStation.
