Strategic Sourcing Manager

About the role

The Strategic Sourcing Manager will lead category negotiations for a set of indirect spend categories at Amgen. You will develop and execute sourcing strategies that align with business objectives, regional requirements, and Amgen’s sustainability and diversity goals. This role partners closely with Category Management, Business Partners, and cross‑functional teams to drive value across the supply base.

Key responsibilities

• Drive sourcing events for Amgen affiliates, delivering world‑class procurement services.
• Partner with Category Management and Business Partners to identify opportunities and build sourcing initiatives.
• Lead complex sourcing initiatives from strategy development through execution and value realization.
• Deliver cost efficiencies, faster time‑to‑market, supplier innovation and broader business value.
• Manage supplier evaluations, vendor negotiations and contract development for assigned categories.
• Conduct scenario analysis using criteria beyond Total Cost of Ownership, including sustainability, diversity and innovation.
• Serve as primary contact for Country Business Partners and coordinate activities with strategic sourcing leads.
• Support supplier relationship management and contract lifecycle activities to ensure strong commercial outcomes.
• Promote compliance with procurement policies, identify and mitigate risks, and escalate issues when needed.
• Monitor and report KPIs, sourcing outcomes and value delivery to provide transparency.

Required profile

• Master’s degree with at least 4 years of experience in business partnering, category management, strategic sourcing or procurement, or a Bachelor’s degree with 6 years of equivalent experience.
• Proven experience leading sourcing initiatives in a complex global organization, preferably in biotechnology, pharmaceutical or life‑sciences industries.
• Strong understanding of strategic sourcing principles, supplier relationship management and contract lifecycle management.
• Ability to navigate matrixed organizations, influence stakeholders across functions and regions, and drive measurable business value.
