Store Designer – Retail Construction

About the role

As a Store Designer you will join Action’s construction team in Portugal, reporting to the Construction Manager. You will be responsible for creating store layouts and supporting the technical activities required for licensing, executive design and construction of new stores. Your work will include lighting, ceiling plans, elevations and cross‑sections to deliver clear, efficient and appealing stores that meet all legislative requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct measurement surveys of existing stores and record results.
• Prepare rough sketches and detailed CAD layouts for store construction.
• Produce first‑draft designs for new Action stores to be refined by level‑1 technical designers.
• Review and redraft drawings together with engineering and architecture teams.
• Manage and archive all drawings and related information, maintaining drawing standards and tracking change requests.
• Provide input to improve departmental processes, procedures and systems.
• Coordinate with external architectural offices and supply timely information.
• Submit occupancy notifications to relevant public authorities (municipality, fire department, ANEPC).
• Collaborate actively to obtain internal layout approvals.

Required profile

• 1‑3 years of store design experience in the retail sector.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD (mandatory) and preferably Revit.
• Knowledge of engineering design areas such as hydraulic, electricity and SCIE.
• Fluent in Portuguese and English, both written and spoken.
• Highly organized, pragmatic and able to meet deadlines under pressure.
• Team‑oriented with strong collaboration skills.
