Sous-chef

About the role

We are looking for a Sous-Chef to join our kitchen team in Lisbon on a full-time, on-site basis. In this role you will support the Head Chef in organising and supervising daily kitchen operations while contributing to menu development and ensuring consistent quality.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Head Chef in the organisation and supervision of daily kitchen operations and services.
• Contribute to menu development, mise en place, food preparation, cooking and plating.
• Coordinate the kitchen team, assign tasks, and train team members.
• Ensure strict compliance with hygiene, food safety and HACCP procedures.
• Assist with ordering, stock management and reducing food waste.
• Work closely with management and the front‑of‑house team to ensure smooth service and an excellent guest experience.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a professional kitchen, ideally as a Sous‑Chef or Chef de Partie.
• Strong knowledge of fundamental and advanced culinary techniques with attention to presentation.
• Organisational and team‑management skills, including service planning and prioritising during busy periods.
• Good knowledge of food hygiene, food safety standards and HACCP procedures.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure with a strong sense of service.
• Portuguese and English language skills are an advantage.
• Culinary training from a hospitality or culinary school, or equivalent professional experience.
