Senior Tax Accountant – Statutory & Tax (Portugal)

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Tax Accountant to join a multinational FMCG company in Portugal. The role will be responsible for statutory reporting and tax compliance, working closely with both local and international teams in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare statutory financial statements in accordance with Portuguese GAAP (SNC).
• Ensure timely and accurate tax compliance, including corporate income tax (IRC), VAT and other obligations.
• Support month‑end and year‑end closing processes, performing balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Liaise with external auditors and assist throughout the audit process.
• Monitor changes in local accounting and tax regulations and update internal procedures.
• Maintain strong internal controls and documentation standards.
• Collaborate with local and international stakeholders on finance matters.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in statutory accounting and tax in Portugal.
• Certified Accountant (Contabilista Certificado) – mandatory.
• Strong knowledge of Portuguese GAAP (SNC) and the Portuguese tax framework.
• Experience working with external audits.
• Exposure to IFRS or US GAAP is a plus.
