Senior Substation Physical Designer (Hybrid)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Substation Physical Designer to join our project teams and collaborate with engineers and other designers on high‑voltage substation projects. The role offers a hybrid work arrangement, with three days on‑site and two days remote.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare detailed substation drawings, including General Arrangement, Equipment Plans, Section Views, Bill of Materials, Lightning Shielding, Grounding, Conduit, and Below‑Grade plans.
• Develop control building layouts, cable tray, lighting, and grounding plans and sections.
• Interpret and incorporate vendor information into design deliverables.
• Conduct walk‑downs at client facilities and apply client standards.
• Mentor junior designers and drafters.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of substation physical design experience.
• Associate degree in Drafting or equivalent technical experience.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English (read, speak, write).
• Ability to visualize equipment details, clearances, and 3D parts without computer aid.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Familiarity with Bentley Substation Design tools.
• Strong knowledge of drafting, technical plan production, and engineering design principles.
