Senior Structural Engineer (Hybrid - Aguadilla, PR)

About the role

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join its Global Engineering & Technology Center in Puerto Rico. The role supports the Landing Systems Engineering organization, focusing on structural analysis, risk assessment, and validation of aerospace components. The position is hybrid, requiring three days onsite in Aguadilla and two days remote.

Key responsibilities

• Lead structural analysis of landing‑system components using classical methods and detailed Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
• Conduct risk assessments, including static and fatigue failure‑mode evaluations.
• Own project delivery with minimal oversight, meeting schedule, budget, and quality targets.
• Provide analysis support for new product introductions, material non‑conformances, part deviation addendums, and field investigations.
• Prepare technical documentation, formal reports, and presentations for management and customers.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams as the structures focal point, delivering design recommendations that meet weight and cost goals.
• Assist in creating test plans and support validation/verification testing of structural, thermal, and dynamic performance.
• Use test data to calibrate analytical methods and develop automated status reports with MATLAB, Python, or similar tools.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship or U.S. Person status (required for access to program information).
• Residency in Puerto Rico at start of employment; relocation not offered.
• Proven experience in aerospace or defense structural engineering, preferably with landing‑system hardware.
• Ability to work independently and lead projects with minimal supervision.
