Senior Legal Counsel

About the role

The Senior Legal Counsel will act as a commercially‑oriented business partner for development (Dev) and independent power producer (IPP) teams, providing legal support across the full lifecycle of renewable energy projects worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Support the preparation and revision of public tenders, ensure regulatory compliance across jurisdictions, and validate binding documents such as bid bonds and consortium agreements.
• Secure real‑estate and environmental aspects of projects.
• Draft, review and negotiate NDAs, LoIs, MoUs, construction contracts (EPC), operation agreements (O&M, LTSA), TSO agreements, PPAs, hedges and other contractual documents.
• Advise on project financing, direct agreements, guarantees and assist in financial close, satisfaction of conditions precedent, waivers, etc.
• Identify potential claims, define and implement litigation strategies, and coordinate law firms.
• Draft and negotiate joint‑venture documents (LoI, MoU, SHA) and support co‑development/co‑investment platforms.
• Contribute to risk assessments, prepare notes for commitment committees, management and board.
• Manage regulatory matters, including antitrust issues, across multiple geographies.
• Participate in the modernization of the legal department and lead transversal workstreams.

Required profile

• Degree in Business Law (civil law and/or common law).
• Minimum 10 years of experience in business law, preferably on energy or infrastructure projects.
• In‑depth knowledge of renewable‑energy projects and international tenders.
• Strong commercial negotiation and project‑financing expertise.
• Ability to handle complex negotiations and emergency situations.
• Leadership skills to manage a team and coordinate with other departments.
• International experience with a commercial focus.

Required skills

• Proficiency in English (French is a plus).
• Advanced use of Microsoft Office tools: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Project.
