Senior Legal Counsel

About the role

This is a senior in‑house legal position for a well‑established international business expanding its presence in Portugal. You will be the primary legal voice for the Portuguese operation, advising senior stakeholders on commercial, regulatory and compliance matters while influencing real business decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including construction, supply and distribution agreements.
• Provide advice on competition and regulatory issues, particularly concerning distribution and sales channels.
• Develop and maintain contract templates, legal policies and compliance procedures.
• Identify, assess and manage legal risks across the business.
• Handle claims, disputes and regulatory matters as they arise.
• Deliver internal legal training and support ethics and compliance programmes.

Required profile

• Law degree (Licenciatura or Master's) and admission to the Ordem dos Advogados.
• Experience in an international corporate environment, preferably with prior in‑house legal experience.
• Fluent in Portuguese and English, both written and spoken.
• Strong commercial instincts and the confidence to give clear, practical advice under pressure.
