Senior Java Backend Developer

About the role

Syffer is seeking a Senior Java Backend Developer to design, develop, and maintain enterprise‑grade Java applications. You will work on critical banking systems, creating robust RESTful and SOAP services while collaborating with multidisciplinary Agile teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Java (J2SE/J2EE) applications.
• Build and enhance RESTful APIs and SOAP web services.
• Integrate with relational databases such as IBM DB2 and Oracle.
• Create and maintain XML and XSL/XSLT data transformations.
• Implement persistence layers using JPA and manage dependencies with Maven.
• Write automated unit and integration tests to ensure software quality.
• Use Git for version control, participate in code reviews, and drive continuous improvement.
• Document technical implementations in Portuguese and English when required.
• Work with enterprise platforms like IBM Content Manager, IBM Content Manager OnDemand, Adobe AEM Forms, and Adobe Designer.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 years of experience as a Java developer building enterprise applications.
• Proven ability to create scalable REST and SOAP services.
• Strong experience integrating relational databases (DB2, Oracle).
• Familiarity with Agile development practices and hybrid work environments.
• Professional proficiency in English and ability to communicate effectively in Portuguese.
• Analytical mindset with a focus on delivering high‑performance, maintainable software.
