Senior General Ledger Accountant

About the role

The Senior General Ledger Accountant reports to the Record to Report manager and is responsible for preparing accurate financial and statutory statements in line with US GAAP and company policies. The role supports the management team on financial, tax and legal matters and contributes to the overall financial integrity of H.B. Fuller Portugal.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and ensure timely monthly financial statements for North America finance entities, complying with US GAAP and reporting deadlines.
• Deliver monthly, quarterly and year‑end financial reporting to Corporate Accounting, providing a true and fair view of the business.
• Manage key accounting activities such as 10‑K reporting, corporate tax questionnaires, SAB104 analysis and multi‑element agreement support.
• Prepare journal entries, coordinate accruals with Controlling and FP&A, and maintain complete supporting documentation.
• Perform monthly account reconciliations, support close activities, review journal entries and ensure SOX compliance.
• Assist with internal and external audits and address ad‑hoc accounting requirements.
• Conduct balance‑sheet and P&L variance analyses, preparing commentaries and reporting risks.
• Review and improve process documentation to ensure business continuity and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in multinational companies or shared service centers.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Strong analytical skills, organized, motivated and professional attitude.
• Experience working with SAP or another ERP system and advanced Excel proficiency.
