Senior Financial Controller – R&I Finance Business Partner

About the role

Solvay is looking for a Senior Financial Controller to act as the finance business partner for the Research & Innovation (R&I) Leadership Team. You will join a small, dedicated team within Corporate Controlling and work closely with Global Business Units to provide clear insight into the financial performance of the R&I function.

Key responsibilities

• Lead monthly closing, forecasting, budgeting and long‑term planning for the R&I function.
• Prepare and present financial analysis, performance reviews and business cases to senior stakeholders, including R&I Directors and Finance Directors.
• Drive resource and investment optimisation by managing workforce allocation, project economics and external spend.
• Oversee grant and funding financials – budgeting, forecasting, reporting, cost eligibility and claim preparation.
• Ensure compliance with accounting, audit and funding requirements while enhancing reporting and decision‑support tools.

Required profile

• Relevant degree in Finance, Economics or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in FP&A, Controlling, Project Controlling or R&D/R&I finance.
• Fluency in English.
• Experience with funding programmes, grants, innovation tax credits or public research financing is highly desirable.

• Strong FP&A expertise (budgeting, forecasting, performance analysis).
