Senior Data Engineer / ETL Engineer (Hybrid – Porto or Lisbon)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer / ETL Engineer to join an international project based in Porto or Lisbon. The role focuses on designing, building and automating large‑scale data pipelines that support critical business processes in a hybrid work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines for enterprise data integration.
• Implement data models and manage data warehouses and data lakes.
• Optimize pipeline performance, monitor jobs and troubleshoot issues.
• Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to translate requirements into robust data solutions.
• Utilize job‑scheduling/orchestration tools to ensure reliable data flow.
• Contribute to the ongoing digital transformation and modernization initiatives.

Required profile

• Several years of experience in ETL/ELT development and data integration.
• Advanced SQL proficiency and strong background with relational databases.
• Fluent English and French (minimum B2 level).
• Ability to work in a hybrid setting and coordinate across international teams.

Required skills

• ETL tools: Talend, DataStage, Semarchy, Stambia (or similar).
• Linux/Unix environments, Shell/Bash scripting.
• Job scheduling/orchestration: VTOM, Control‑M, Airflow.
• Data Warehousing, Data Lakes, Data Modeling concepts.
• Cloud platforms (GCP) – nice to have.
• Big data technologies: Spark, Hadoop – nice to have.
• CI/CD and DevOps practices for data pipelines – nice to have.
