Senior Construction Manager – Data Centres

About the role

Turner & Townsend is seeking a senior‑level Construction Manager to lead the delivery of data centre projects in Portugal. The role is site‑based and involves overseeing multiple contractors, ensuring quality, safety and compliance while driving project performance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage governance, communication and management control systems to ensure delivery of client services and works.
• Review organisational structures of parties and recommend alignment measures.
• Interface management between contractors and monitor overall team performance.
• Initiate safety or performance improvement measures and methodologies as required.
• Audit compliance with management system requirements and report findings.
• Engage actively in project risk management, identifying risks and driving mitigation activities.
• Lead weekly technical and progress meetings and manage client stage‑gateway reviews.
• Ensure design stage deliverables meet schedule and quality, coordinating fast‑track procurement and permitting.
• Conduct daily site progress reviews covering HSE, logistics and programme progress.

Required profile

• Significant experience in construction management, preferably within the data centre sector.
• Proven ability to manage multiple construction contractors and oversee quality assurance and control.
• Strong knowledge of governance, communication and management control systems.
• Experience with risk management, safety improvement and performance monitoring.
• Ability to lead technical meetings, stakeholder interfaces and client gateway reviews.
