Senior Backend Software Engineer – Scalable Platform

About the role

Iterable is looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to own and evolve the core product that powers our AI‑driven customer engagement platform. You will work on high‑impact projects that scale to millions of users while helping the team grow technically.

Key responsibilities

• Shape the product roadmap and contribute to planning sessions that increase customer value.
• Collaborate with product, design, and cross‑functional teams to design and ship new features.
• Own the full lifecycle of projects—from design and planning through development, deployment, and production monitoring.
• Build and optimize solutions that scale a complex, high‑traffic platform.
• Participate in code reviews, define coding standards, and mentor teammates.
• Engage in design discussions to continuously raise the quality of the product and the team.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Proven track record building production‑ready, scalable web applications.
• Fluency in English (written and spoken) and legal authorization to work in the EU.
• Willingness to take on‑call responsibilities and thrive in a remote‑first environment.

Required skills

• Scala and/or Java.
• Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL, Redis, CockroachDB.
• Pulsar, Kafka, AWS.
• Docker, Kubernetes.
• React (for front‑end integration).
• Experience with end‑to‑end, integration, and performance testing.
