Senior Automation Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to lead the design, commissioning, and operation of advanced cold‑room and refrigeration systems for manufacturing, packaging, and warehouse environments. The role combines deep technical expertise with project leadership to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design of cold‑room/refrigeration systems and processes used in customer operations.
• Ensure designs meet engineering, safety, quality, and regulatory compliance specifications.
• Oversee commissioning, qualification, validation, startup, and operation of new CO₂‑based ASRS cold rooms.
• Develop, test, implement, validate, and operate critical automation and software systems.
• Support CQV activities and lead operational training and system adoption.
• Collaborate with QA, CSV, packaging, manufacturing, and IT/OT teams to maintain GxP compliance.
• Act as the engineering SME for cold‑room systems, establishing best practices and methodologies.
• Drive continuous improvement of design and operational processes.
• Manage vendor relationships, ensuring contracts and deliverables meet requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in industrial refrigeration and cold‑room design.
• 5+ years of experience with CO₂ cold‑room design and operation.
• Proven ability to lead projects and communicate effectively.
• Strong knowledge of cGMP, validation processes, and GxP‑regulated environments.
• Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time.
• Fluent English with excellent communication skills.
