Secret Service Police Officer – Washington, DC

About the role

The U.S. Secret Service is seeking qualified individuals to join its Police Division in Washington, DC. Officers protect high‑profile government facilities and support protective missions for the President, Vice President, and foreign dignitaries.

Key responsibilities

• Provide protective security for the White House Complex, the Vice President’s Residence, the Main Treasury Building and Annex, and diplomatic missions in the Washington, DC area.
• Travel in support of Presidential, Vice‑Presidential, and foreign heads‑of‑state/government missions.
• Enforce protective responsibilities as defined under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship and a valid U.S. driver’s license.
• Age 21‑40 at the time of application (exceptions for prior federal law‑enforcement service).
• Ability to carry and use a firearm and maintain firearm proficiency.
• Uncorrected visual acuity no worse than 20/100 binocular; corrected acuity 20/20 or better in each eye.
• Hearing thresholds not exceeding 25 dB in the 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz ranges.
• Pass a pre‑employment drug test and agree to random testing.
• Complete 12 weeks of training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and 17 weeks of specialized training at the James J. Rowley Training Center.
• Selective Service registration or exemption for male applicants born after 12/31/1959.
