Release Engineer

About the role

Air Apps, a Lisbon-founded company building an AI-powered personal and entrepreneurial resource planner, is looking for a Release Engineer. You will ensure the smooth, reliable and efficient release of its applications, overseeing versioning, build management and deployment workflows so that new features and updates reach users seamlessly.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and optimize release pipelines for smooth deployment of software updates.
• Define and maintain versioning strategies consistent across environments.
• Coordinate with engineering, QA and DevOps teams for timely, stable releases.
• Automate and improve build, release and deployment processes.
• Monitor and troubleshoot release issues to minimize downtime.
• Maintain documentation for release workflows, rollback plans and deployment strategies.
• Ensure compliance with security, performance and quality standards.
• Use CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, CircleCI) to manage automated releases.
• Implement feature flagging for controlled rollouts and analyze release performance.

Required profile

• Around 3+ years of experience in release engineering, DevOps or build/release management.
• Experience in an agile environment with fast-paced release cycles.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and knowledge of release risk assessment and rollback strategies.

Required skills

• CI/CD tools: Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, CircleCI, ArgoCD.
• Version control (Git) and branching strategies (GitFlow, trunk-based development).
• Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Scripting (Bash, Python or PowerShell) and build systems (Xcode, Gradle, Webpack).
