Reinsurance Accountant

About the role

AIG is seeking a Reinsurance Accountant to support its finance team in managing reinsurance operations, cash management, and regulatory reporting. The role offers the chance to develop expertise in property and casualty reinsurance while contributing to the company’s financial health.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, calculate, and bill reinsurance loss recoverables; pursue collections and resolve disputes.
• Calculate, verify, and process ceded premium payments according to treaty and facultative contracts.
• Reconcile assumed and ceded premium, commission, and loss accounts against ledgers and broker statements.
• Prepare journal entries, monthly financial statement inputs, and variance analysis for reinsurance assets, liabilities, and income.
• Lead the preparation, verification, and filing of Statutory Schedule F, ensuring accurate penalty calculations and provision reporting.
• Compile and submit mandatory Puerto Rico regulatory reports in line with US GAAP and SAP.
• Assist internal and external auditors during annual audits and regulatory examinations.
• Maintain internal controls over reinsurance processes and monitor contract terms for proper accounting treatment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Relevant experience in property‑and‑casualty insurance or reinsurance accounting.
• Proven experience preparing Schedule F and handling Puerto Rico OCS filing requirements.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, complex data manipulation).
• Familiarity with the SAP accounting system.
