Real Estate Development Lawyer (Remote)

About the role

Utopia is seeking an experienced Real Estate Development Lawyer to join its legal team on a remote basis. The role will provide counsel across all phases of luxury property development, from acquisition and financing to construction and disposition.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on land acquisition, due diligence, entitlement, permitting and related legal matters.
• Draft, review and negotiate purchase agreements, development agreements, leases, construction contracts and loan documents.
• Manage legal risks throughout real‑estate development projects and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Conduct legal research and analysis on real‑estate statutes, regulations and industry best practices.
• Collaborate with internal development, finance and construction teams and liaise with external parties such as government agencies, lenders, investors and consultants.

Required profile

• Law degree from a reputable university or law school.
• Admission to the bar in the country of residence; dual qualification in a common‑law jurisdiction is a plus.
• 5+ years of experience in real‑estate law with a focus on development and transactions.
• Prior in‑house experience with luxury real‑estate developers is highly desirable.
• Strong ability to draft and negotiate complex legal documents and to conduct thorough legal research.
