R&D Engineer Internship – Domestic Hot Water Tanks

About the role

We are seeking a motivated engineering intern to join our R&D team in Aveiro, focusing on the development of next‑generation domestic hot‑water tanks and heat‑pump water heaters. The role offers hands‑on experience in product innovation, laboratory testing and cross‑functional collaboration.

Key responsibilities

• Support the design, development and industrialisation of new domestic hot‑water tanks.
• Analyse relevant legislation, standards and technical requirements.
• Define validation strategies, create test plans and develop engineering test methods.
• Conduct laboratory testing, measurements and performance evaluations.
• Prepare clear technical reports and communicate results to stakeholders.
• Participate in troubleshooting, brainstorming and root‑cause analysis activities.
• Assist with engineering change management during product development.
• Collaborate with R&D, Quality, Product Management and Manufacturing teams.

Required profile

• Academic degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering or a related technical field.
• Strong interest in thermal systems, refrigeration or sustainable technologies.
• Good communication skills in Portuguese and English.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and technical topics simultaneously.
• Innovative mindset with willingness to challenge the status‑quo.
