Quality Engineer

About the role

Abbott is seeking a Quality Engineer to support its Structural Heart business in Caguas, Puerto Rico. The role is on‑site and works the first shift, providing process and quality engineering support to manufacturing to ensure the delivery of high‑quality medical devices.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with corporate and divisional policies and procedures.
• Identify manufacturing process defects, disposition non‑conforming material, and lead basic investigations.
• Determine root causes and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
• Support the line team (QC Supervisor, Manufacturing Supervisor, Quality Engineer, Operations) in triaging line situations, assessing non‑conformance, and initiating containment and exception management.
• Own basic to moderate exception handling activities.

Required profile

• Experience in quality or process engineering within a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work the first shift and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
• Strong understanding of defect identification, root‑cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
