About the role
The Quality Assurance Technician supports food safety and quality programs in a manufacturing environment. Working under general supervision, the technician ensures that raw materials, in‑process products, and finished goods meet established quality standards, regulatory requirements, and safety specifications.
Key responsibilities
- Collect and handle samples of raw materials, in‑process products, and finished goods according to sampling plans.
- Perform routine quality tests such as pH, temperature, weight checks, visual inspections, and basic laboratory analyses.
- Inspect products, packaging, and labeling for compliance with specifications and regulatory standards.
- Monitor Critical Control Points and food safety controls in line with HACCP plans.
- Conduct pre‑operational and sanitation verification checks to confirm production readiness.
- Support allergen control activities, including segregation verification and cleaning effectiveness.
- Record test results, inspection findings, and monitoring data in logs and electronic systems.
- Identify non‑conformances, place affected product on hold, and escalate issues promptly.
- Assist in root‑cause investigations and corrective‑action activities.
- Maintain audit‑ready quality records and communicate expectations to production teams.
Required profile
- High School Diploma or GED; associate degree or technical training in food science, biology, chemistry, or related field preferred.
- 2–6 years of experience in quality assurance, quality control, or food safety within food manufacturing.
- Working knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, and sanitation practices.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and electronic documentation.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to stand, walk for extended periods, and work in varying temperature environments.
- Willingness to work assigned shifts, including nights or weekends.
